Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Beyond Life provides the Pet Rock website and Android app. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

1. Information we collect

Pet rock information

When you adopt or interact with a virtual pet rock, we store information needed to operate the service. This may include the rock's name, appearance, owner display name, adoption status, Bond points, streaks, visit days, care activity and other rock-related progress.

Optional account information

You do not need an account to adopt a rock. If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and securely store a password hash. We do not store your password in readable form.

Accounts are used to back up and sync your pet rock collection across supported devices. We also store the relationship between your account and the rocks you have linked to it.

Private ownership links

Adopted rocks may have a private Manage/Edit link containing an ownership token. This link acts like a key to that rock and should be kept private. The service may store or use this token to verify ownership and provide editing access.

Device and browser storage

Beyond Life may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to remember your session, your owned rocks, app preferences and other information needed for the service to work. The Android app uses web-based content from beyond-life.org and may use the same storage technologies inside its WebView.

Technical information

Like most websites and online services, our hosting provider may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, requested pages, timestamps and server logs for security, reliability and troubleshooting.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

3. Advertising and third-party services

Parts of the Beyond Life website may use Google advertising or related Google services. These services may use cookies or similar technologies and may process device, browser or advertising information according to Google's own policies and consent requirements.

Where required, a consent message may be shown before advertising cookies or similar technologies are used.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers that help operate the website or app, such as web hosting, email delivery, security services and advertising providers. We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the service, our users or others.

5. Data retention

Rock records and progress may remain stored while the rock continues to exist on Beyond Life. Optional account information is kept while your account remains active.

Some limited technical or security records may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary for fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, backups or troubleshooting.

6. Account deletion

You can delete your Beyond Life account from the Account page.

Deleting your account removes the account and its account-to-rock sync relationships. Deleting an account does not automatically rehome your rocks. Private ownership links may continue to provide access to rocks unless the rock is separately rehomed or its ownership credentials are changed.

7. Your choices

You can use Beyond Life without creating an account. You can also clear local browser or app storage from your device, although doing so may remove locally remembered rock access unless your rocks are linked to an account or you still have their private ownership links.

8. Children

Beyond Life is a general-audience entertainment service and is not designed to require children to provide personal information. Optional accounts require an email address. Parents and guardians should supervise younger users where appropriate.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect account and ownership information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so private Manage/Edit links should be treated like passwords and not shared publicly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy when the service changes. The latest version will always be published on this page with an updated date.
