Beyond Life is a free virtual pet rock adoption site. Pick a rock, give it a name and a human, then visit it whenever your actual responsibilities become too demanding.

Your rock does not need feeding, walking, veterinary care or emotional reassurance. It does, however, look excellent in a cowboy hat.

Do the rocks have feelings?

We asked. They declined to comment.

Does adoption cost anything?

No. The basic rock adoption is free.

Do I need an account?

No. You receive a private edit link when you adopt. Your browser also remembers it for the My Rock page.
